Albert Einstein Quote About Our Relationship With Animals

A human being is a part of a whole, called by us _universe_, a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings as something separated from the rest... a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty.

After the nonprofit-making London-based group Animal Defenders International (ADI) worked side by side with circus workers and filmed all the abuses to the animals, Bolivia passed a new law earlier this year that says the use of animals in circuses "constitutes an act of cruelty."

Good News for Dolphins

The official opening day of the dolphin slaughter coincided with the arrival of Typhoon Talas with a maximum sustained wind speed of 30 meters per second (100 kilometers an hour) and a central pressure of 965.  So, the slaughter has been postponed for 1 week.

Meteorologists are puzzled by Talas saying, "The analysis continues to reveal an unusual upper-level pattern with an upper low over the center and anticyclonic flow around the periphery."  And just below Talus, is the raging category 4 super typhoon named Nanmadol, with winds of 250 kilometers per hour.

Horace Axtell Speaks of Wolves and Other Things

Horace Axtell, 85 year old Nez Perce elder, leader in the traditional Seven Drum religion, and WWII veteran of the Pacific Theatre, speaks about his culture and history. (Horace was one of the first expeditionary troops on the ground in Nagasaki Japan after the nuclear bombings, and ended up contracting a skin disease as a result of his exposure to radiation.)

He tells stories told to him by his grandmother who was born in Wallowa country in 1871, 6 years before General Howard forced Chief Joseph and the Nez Perce out of the Wallowa. He shares the sacred relationship and history of wolves with the Nez Perce in Wallowa country as well as other areas inhabited by the Nimiipuu (Nez Perce). Wolves were regarded as a brother and one of the most sacred animals by the Nimiipuu, who always held them in honor and with a good feeling. http://invisiblehistory.blogspot.com/
